Carnauba wax is a natural product compound basically of esters
and heavy weight fatty acids. The wax is produced from a powder
taken from the leaves of Carnauba Palm Tree.
This palm tree is called Carnaubeira or Carnauba, only (Latin
denomination: Copernicia Cerifera, Mart).
The
Carnauba palm tree covers its leaves with a thin layer of
this waxy powder as a protection from dehydration, hot temperatures
and long draughts in the northeast region of Brazil, especially
in the states of Piaui, Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte.

The
leaves are harvested with a scythe and then are bitten to
extract the waxy powder, afterwards the powder is industrialized
to achieve others greades. Cerapeles produces filtered wax
types 1, 3 and 4 and centrifuged wax type 4. All these type
can be produced in flakes or lumps form and packed in 25 Kg.
plastic bags.
